CYCLE TWO COURSE OFFERINGS

(a)  The courses taught in the second cycle of the seminary’s academic programme represent the intermediate stage between the first and third cycles.  In this cycle the study of the History of Philosophy (cf.RF no.72) is introduced as are the more strictly Theological courses, viz. Systematic (Dogmatic) Theology, Moral Theology or Christian Ethics, Liturgy, Church History and Pastoral Theology (cf. RF nos.76-81).  The academic requirements that qualify those students who are duly registered for the award of the Licentiate in Theology or the B.A.(Theology) are based on the programme of study in this cycle and that of cycle 3.  The details of those requirements are set out in the Brochure of the Faculty of Humanities and Education, UWI, St. Augustine, Trinidad.

(b) All courses in this cycle are 3-credit courses, except otherwise indicated, and each student normally takes fifteen credits each semester.  In addition, students may, with permission of the Dean of Studies, take elective courses (to a maximum of twenty credits per semester).

(c) The titles of the courses offered in Cycle 2 are listed below in groups of five as they are typically taught.  In grouping the courses in this way, attention is paid to the interrelation of the various subjects or disciplines to which a student is exposed in any given semester (cf.
